Friday the effing 13th

So I'm not normally superstitious, but after yesterday's fiasco's I can't help but be.

On Thursday Jon comes home ranting and raving because they (meaning the university) towed his Honda. It had been sitting in one of the visitor parking spots for some time now because it doesn't work. He had been trying to fix it but to no avail, and I guess people in the complex had been bitching and whining about it sitting there. I'm sorry, but is there any reason you can't grow a pair and confront ME personally about the problem? Be an adult about it. Ugh. We had to call Jon's parents and they came down with the pickup and the trailer to get it out of the impound lot, for $133 no less. Ugh again. And here's the kicker, Jon took off work to help get it out of the lot, well, the front desk at BV gave them the WRONG ADDRESS for the impound lot!!!!! I thought Jon was going to get in a lot of trouble with the bitchy-boss but I guess it was okay. His parents took the car back to their house so at least the car's not MY headache anymore.

Then, we get up on Friday and realize that, hm, he's $18 in the NEGATIVE even AFTER HIS $270 PAYCHECK! Apparently Jon had written a check for $50 to the tool guy, told him not to cash it until Friday, BUT, stupid tool guy completely ignored his requests. Then the worst part is that we now have FIVE overdraft fees, FIVE! All for 37.50. But his account shows NOTHING ever in the negative! Even now, NOTHING was ever negative! Not even after his overdraft fees, because they came directly out of his paycheck. He went in to talk to the bank yesterday and argued with the personal banker because they were in the wrong with the overdrafts. He said that he would have to talk to the manager to see if they could get the overdraft fees reinstated. Well, Jon told them they either reinstate that money or he's closing his account and they won't ever get his business again. So far they have put ONE overdraft fee back in. OMG! Like THAT is going to make up for you poor business practices. We're over it. Even if they do put them all back the account is getting closed. Piece of shit banks.

On a good note, I did some more Daytona 500 deals! Woo-hoo! I did pay more OOP then I wanted to, but what keeps me going is that I paid less for 10 items than I would have for JUST the 2 packs of diapers I bought. My total after coupons was $19.20, and the total for the 2 packs of Huggies alone would have been $19.98. I also went to Target where the Gilette Fusion are on sale for $7.99, buy 2 get a $5 Target gift card. There are $4/1 coupons in the P&G from this past weekend which make the razors $3.99. So for around $9 I got 2 Fusions Razors and a $5 GC for future deals. Yay! That one was fun though because Jon went and did the deal, my bargain hunting boy! lol. I really wanted to do the BRU wipes deal this weekend and a couple RiteAid transactions, so I hope that the bank puts the money back in so I can do a BRU deal before the President's Day sale is done.

Sorry this is long, but a Molly sidenote too. My girl can eat, and eat and eat. She has a GREAT appetite and I have yet to find a food she will refuse, until now. She loves her veggies, carrots and peas and squash and sweet potatoes, LOVES the veggies. She's not a fruit girl though, she will eat bananas and apples, but not a whole lot more. I did get her to eat some blueberries though, alone and in a tofu smoothie. She likes avocados too, which is great because it's a superfruit with tons of nutrients. BUT...she HATES peaches! She will put them in her mouth, kind of lick it for a second, and then spit it right back out. The first time she did that I thought she was just getting used to it and I would introduce it a couple other times and she would be fine. Nope, they had peaches for lunch and snack (yeah, who thought of that? Same thing for snack as lunch?) and she would not eat them! She ate potatoes though for lunch and graham crackers for snack, but would not touch the peaches. Too funny.

Lately I've been trying my darndest to save money. And I have succeeded a little! I've been clipping coupons religiously and my parents, my grandma, and Jon's parents have been sending me some too. I've got a great little stash going on, and I've been trying to organize them, but there are so many! I have a 2" binder with 30 pages of inserts like you would use for baseball cards with different coupons tucked inside them. That fits some of my coupons, well most. But I still have a TON I have yet to cut up and store. I'm going to need another 30 or more pages! I also have a small checkbook size expandable binder that I use when I'm going to the store. I just take the coupons I'm going to use and file them accordingly so I have then all ready for when I check out. Now here's what I'm so proud of!

Kroger is having a Daytona 500 promotion, buy 10 of the participating items and receive $3 off your order at check out automatically. Here was my first run with corresponding coupons:

4 Chef Boyardee @ $0.88/can
2 Ragu Sauce @ $1.69/can
4 Betty Crocker fruit snacks @ $2.00/box
Total before coupons: $14.90
Take $3 off automatically for the Daytona 500 promotion.
Also I had a loadable coupon on my Kroger card for .50/1 Ragu from shortcuts.com.
I used .35/3 Chef Boyardee coupon (doubles so .70 off), a .75/2 Ragu coupon (doubles 1.25 off), and 2 .50/2 Betty Crocker fruit snack coupon (double so 2.00 off)
Total of coupons: $7.70
Total out of pocket: $7.20 for 1o items = .70/per item

That run also generated a 2.50/OYNP (on your next purchase) catalina because of the fruit snacks. The catalina promotion is buy 3 BC fruit snacks get 1.5 catalina, buy 4 get 2.50, and buy 5 get 3.50.

That run then rolled into the next one:
2 Multi Grain Cheerios @ $2.49/box
3 Chef Boyardee @ .88/can
5 BC fruit snacks @ 1.79/box
Total before coupons: $16.57
3$ off automatically for promotion.Had 2 loadable coupons for .75 off box of Cheerios (1.25 off total), 2 .50/1 Cheerios coupons (doubles, 2 off), 1 .35/3 Chef Boyardee coupon (doubles, .70 off) and 2 .50/2 BC coupons (doubles, 2 off) and used 2.50 OYNP cat from deal before.
Total of coupons: 11.70
Total OOP: 4.87 for 10 items= .49/item AND got 3.50 OYNP from BC catalina deal

On another note, is was 50 freaking degrees out today! When I finished my midterm and straightned up the house a little I went to get Molly and we took a walk. It was kind of chilly by 4 in the afternoon, but she had a little hooded jacket and a blanket. I had a sweatshirt and was fine. I took her our in her NEW stroller! We have a Peg Perego P3 stroller in Orange Revi. If you want you can look it up, it's so cute! I got it on e-bay for about $212 plus a matching diaper bag, a stroller rain cover, and a carrying bag. I know, so not a bargain, but I LOVE this stroller. It turns on a dime and stears like a dream. Jon really like the handles, now if we could only get them to extend like they're supposed to! Poo. Hopefully we can get that fixed. Also, it's a fullsize stroller but folds like an umbrella stroller. It's amazing, I can't say anything negative about it. Oh I think you're probably bored of my ramblings for one day, I'll just leave you with a little video of my precious girl!
